Mullor withdraws; Candidate statements for Sammamish Council Position 1

Miki Mullor withdrew his candidacy yesterday from Position 1 for the Sammamish City Council.

This means there are 12 candidates seeking four Sammamish City Council positions, each of the seats will have a primary in the Aug. 1 election.

With Mullor’s withdrawal, there will be no primary for Position 1. However, Sammamish Comment will proceed with basic information from the two remaining candidates for Position 1.

Three candidates filed for Positions 3 and 5; four filed for Position 7. Their statements will publish this week.

Sammamish Comment will provide coverage throughout the campaign to the August primary and the Nov. 7 general election.

Mark Baughman

I was born and grew up on a farm in Iowa. Attended Iowa State University and earned B.S. in Civil and Construction Engineering in 1990. I started working for Mortenson Construction immediately out of college and continue to work for them today as a Construction Executive.

My wife and I have lived on the Sammamish plateau since 1997. We have two teenage children. My wife is an elementary public school teacher.

I own a Sammamish-based small business dedicated to creating independence for people with physical challenges. I’ve been married to my wife, Amy, for 19 years and have two sons in public school. I served on the Washington State Independent Living Council, appointed by Governor Jay Inslee from 2015 to 2017 and was recently appointed to the King County Civil Rights Commission by King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert. I have degrees in History and Political Science from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree in History from Eastern Michigan University.

I’ve lived in Washington State for 14 years and Klahanie for the past 7 years and now a citizen of Sammamish for the past year since annexation.

I served on the Washington State Independent Living Council, appointed by Governor Jay Inslee from 2015 to 2017 and was recently appointed to the King County Civil Rights Commission by King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert.
